Yankee Candle unveiled their 2022 Scent of the Year, which is called "Inspire." According to the brand's official press release, the wonderful scent celebrates Ikigai, which is the philosophy for leading a long, joyful life, and was created to further improve daily moments that fill your heart with happiness.

This particular scent was designed during the COVID-19 pandemic. It's an inspiring, sweet escape, if you will, because even if you're working or spending time at home, you'll feel as though you've been transported to a soft, sandy shore with the sun beating down on you.

In 2022, the trend experts discovered a deep desire for seeking more joy in daily life. The welcoming blend of nature-inspired green notes evokes great happiness to its core. Inspire's top notes include verbena, rainforest lime, and ginger. The mid notes are ocean breeze accord, bamboo, and freesia, while the base notes feature seaside driftwood, cedar, and sun musks.

The candle is described as "an intriguing effervescent citrus fragrance" that instantly sparks a sense of happiness while the aromas of a beautiful sea breeze awaken your senses and deliver optimism.

The Inspire candle was inspired by Ikigai's ten rules of happiness

Lisa McCarthy, President of the Home Fragrance Business Unit, Newell Brands states in the Yankee Candle press release, "When developing this year's fragrance, we really focused on what people are seeking in 2022 and leaned into a scent that celebrates the small moments of joy that can be found in our everyday lives. Ikigai's ten rules of happiness, which include 'reconnect with nature,' helped inspire this bright and energizing, uplifting and radiant fragrance, reflective of what we are all craving right now."

Some of Ikagai's additional rules of happiness include "give thanks" and "take it slow and live in the moment," which contributed to this lovely, radiant fragrance.
