When you're on the Whole30 diet, you're trying to avoid processed meats, and that includes any type of breakfast patty or sausage. Which is why we've created this simple recipe for a Whole30 breakfast sausage patty that you can quickly put together at home. It combines high quality ground meat (imperative for Whole30) with fresh sage and blackberries, which add both a sweetness and an earthy flavor. We promise it's the lightest breakfast sausage you've ever had!

Don't worry if the berries are hard to incorporate into the meat before cooking—just do your best to shape them into rounds and it'll all stick together as they cook.

Makes 4 servings

Ingredients

1 lb ground organic turkey or pastured ground pork
2 tsp chopped fresh sage
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1/4 tsp sea salt
1/2 cup fresh blackberries, halved
3 Tbsp coconut oil, plus more as needed

How to Make It

  1. In a medium bowl, using wet hands, gently mix together the turkey, sage, garlic powder, salt, and blackberries. Shape into 8 small patties.
  2. In a large skillet, heat the coconut oil over medium-high heat. Fry the patties, leaving room between them, for about 3 minutes per side. Remove from heat and serve.
