Taco Bell Is Launching Three New Coffee Flavors
"Let's meet at Taco Bell for coffee," says no one ever. Tacos? Obvi. Nachos? Of course. But coffee? Do they even sell coffee? Does coffee go with tacos?
Apparently, Taco Bell believes coffee goes with tacos like peanut butter and jelly. The chain currently offers premium hot coffee, regular iced coffee, and iced cinnamon coffee (Iced Cinnabon Delights, to be exact), along with its more popular taco-drink pairings of Cherry Bliss Freeze, Baja Blast, and Pepsi.
But Taco Bell is nothing if not innovative, so it is testing three brand new iced coffee flavors for lucky tasters in Fresno, Calif., and Philadelphia, Pa., according to Thrillist. The chain is taking the original premium roast coffee and mixing it with three Mexican-inspired variations: Dulce de Leche, Mexican Chocolate Mocha, and Sweet Vanilla. The new coffees will sell for $2.99 for a large size.
While Taco Bell's coffee innovation had been lagging in the past compared with its competitors (its only out-of-the-box offering was the Cinnabon Delights, which was added to the menu in March), the chain appears to be trying to up its game when it comes to its breakfast scene, which has become an integral part of the fast-food arena.
While lunch traffic decreased by 3% at fast-food chains from January to August 2022, breakfast traffic increased by 2% during that same period, according to data from the NPD Group. Coffee, obviously, is integral to a good breakfast, and Taco Bell is attempting to keep up with its competitors.
Customers looking for a Taco Bell breakfast can score everything from Cinnabon Delights (cinnamon mini-donuts) to breakfast quesadillas and breakfast burritos. The chain hasn't mentioned when it will be expanding on the new coffee releases nationwide, but we'll keep our fingers crossed.
