Walmart Is Pulling These Two Grocery Items Off Shelves From Coast to Coast
Just one week after removing Capri Sun's wild cherry flavored juice pouches and Home Run Inn Chicago's Premium Pizzeria Deluxe Sausage Classic Pizza from stores, Walmart has pulled two additional items from its shelves.
On Aug. 24, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced the recalls of Great Value's four-ounce bags of chopped walnuts and 10.9-ounce bottles of Mighty Sesame Co.'s squeezable organic tahini.

South Georgia Pecan Co. recalled the chopped walnuts due to the pouches containing pecan pieces instead of walnuts, despite the product being labeled as "Chopped Walnuts." According to the FDA, "People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to pecans run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume this product."
The chopped walnuts bear a lot number of 29329 and a "Best If Used By" date of April 29, 2023. They were sold to select Walmart locations in Florida, North Carolina, and South Carolina between August 8, 2022, and August 16, 2022. See here for the full list of stores that carried the product.
Unlike the mislabeling issue, Rushdi Food Industries recalled its Mighty Sesame Co. Organic Tahini due to the possibility of Salmonella contamination. The affected products have an expiration date of March 28, 2023, and a Universal Product Code (UPC) of 858313006208.
The FDA states in its notice that the tahini bottles were shipped to stores in New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut, in addition to Walmart locations across the U.S. during the first two weeks of May 2022. The agency also writes, "Based off of sales velocity, there is an extremely low chance that any of the affected product would still be available for retail. All products other than the ones with the affected Best by Date mentioned in the table are ok to consume." See here for the full list of Walmart locations that sold the tahini.
Although there have been no reports of illness or injury for either product, the FDA advises consumers who still have these items to throw them away or return them to their place of purchase. Those with symptoms of a Salmonella infection, such as fever, diarrhea (which may be bloody), nausea, vomiting, and abdominal pain are also encouraged to seek medical attention.
