Sushi Sold at Target and More Top Retailers Is Being Recalled Over Salmonella Concerns
Avanti Frozen Foods is expanding a recall of various shrimp products over concerns of possible salmonella contamination, according to a recent notice posted by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
The shrimp products were distributed nationwide between November 2020 and May 2021. They include "various sizes" of frozen cooked, peeled, and deveined shrimp, some of which came with cocktail sauce.
Nine salmonella-related illnesses linked to the recalled products have been reported thus far. Symptoms of salmonella-related illness in healthy individuals include diarrhea, fever, nausea, stomach pains, and vomiting. In children, the elderly, or those with weakened immune systems, a salmonella infection could be more severe.
