Walmart And Kroger Are Recalling This Popular Food Item
If you're a fan of buttermilk pancakes, you're going to want to keep reading.
A pancake mix sold under Walmart's Great Value brand and the Kroger brand name has been recalled after fragments from a piece of production equipment were discovered in the product.
Pieces of a cable used to clear the processing line were discovered in a limited amount of product, according to the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). The products are manufactured by Seattle-based Continental Mills.

The Walmart mix was shipped and sold nationwide and has a best-by date of September 1, 2023. The boxes also have the following codes: UPC 078742370828, lot code KX2063.
The Kroger Buttermilk Pancake & Waffle Mix has a UPC 01111088219. The affected product has the lot codes KX2063 and KX2064, and best-by dates of September 1, 2023 and September 2, 2023.
The recalled product was distributed to Kroger stores in the following states: Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, Missouri, Mississippi, Ohio, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, and West Virginia.
To date, no contaminated product has been reported by consumers, and no injuries have been reported, according to the FDA.
Anyone who may have purchased the mix is asked to dispose of it or return it to your local store for a replacement or refund.
"Food Safety is the highest priority for Continental Mills and the company is acting swiftly for the safety of consumers," the FDA said in a press release. "Continental Mills is working with the FDA and retailers to ensure any affected product is removed from the marketplace immediately."
