This test is quite significant to gauge an individual's anger level, but also their stress and physical well-being
The IDR-MAT© (Multidimensional Anger Test) was designed by IDR Labs International and based on the research of Dr. Judith M. Siegel. It involves a series of 38 questions, and data proves it to provide "good psychometric properties in the form of high validity and test-retest reliability." So much so, in fact, that the test is used successfully in both clinical and research situations in the U.S., Canada, and Europe. The test has proven to be quite significant to gauge an individual's anger level, but according to IDR Labs International, the information is informative to their stress and physical well-being as well.
Although the test is used by researchers, it can simply be an interesting conversation piece or even used as a tool for a bit of self-reflection. (Note that if you do experience anger that needs to be addressed, the first important step is to consult a healthcare professional. Chronic anger has been associated with a plethora of health problems, including skin disorders, digestive issues, high blood pressure, heart issues, and headaches.)
The test involves 38 questions that require a simple click on "agree" or "disagree"
The Multidimensional Anger Test is free to take, and TikTokers have recently become fans of taking the test, then posting their results to share with their viewers. The popular craze peaked our curiosity, so we took the test, and this is what you can expect.
The responses to 38 questions require a simple click on "agree" or "disagree." The queries are not complex, but require thoughtful deliberation. Some of the questions include: I often hide my anger from others and feel bad about it afterwards; I get angry when I am not given proper credit for something I have done; I am secretly quite critical of others.
Your percentage of angriness is calculated in 6 different categories
When you have completed taking the test, a chart will instantly appear displaying your percentage of angriness, as compared to the general population average, in 6 specific categories, including: anger arousal (how often you get angry, length of anger, and at what level), anger spectrum (the extent of situations that are most probable to cause an angry reaction), hostile outlook (high scores indicate distrust, wariness, and guardedness), external anger (your likeliness to react to your anger in particular situations), and internal anger (how much anger do you typically hold in).
At the very end, an overall percentage is calculated based on each category total. An overall score is concluded below your chart, which notes, "This makes you [number]% less susceptible to anger than the average person."
