These McDonald's Summer Menu Additions Sound Amazing—But There's a Catch
Most of us love McDonald's for its reliable burgers and fries, golden-standard chicken nuggets, and inoffensive apple pies. And sure, every now and then, the chain throws a new seasonal McFlurry flavor or a covetable dipping sauce our way, just to make us feel alive.
But do we ever, really, get to experience true innovation from our beloved Mickey D's? It turns out that while America invented McDonald's, the chain is having a lot more fun with its menu abroad.
And we can't help but feel a pang of jealousy hearing the news coming out of McDonald's UK. Not only is the McPlant, which we're still iffy about here, old news over there, but our European counterparts are also being treated to a major summer menu revamp.
According to Delish, McDonald's UK will be launching two brand new burgers, new cheesy fries, and a new drink on July 27. All items are inspired by Mediterranean flavors straight out of our European summer fantasies. Officially called the Taste of Spain and Cyprus Menu, the seasonal offerings will include a Spicy Spanish Stack Burger, Chicken Fiesta Burger, Halloumi Fries, and Fruit Punch.
The Spanish Stack will feature two beef patties, chilli cheddar, red onion, spicy tomato sauce, and lettuce on a paprika bun. But if that doesn't pique your interest, it's the Chicken Fiesta Burger that's really got our eyes popping. It has all the same fixin's as the burger but comes with a crispy chicken filet topped with slices of chorizo.
Even more intriguing? The new fries which are ditching potatoes for cheese. Squeaky, firm, perfect-for-frying halloumi cheese. The dairy-filled fries will come with a side of tomato dip.
And last but not least, the new Fruit Punch will allegedly taste like a virgin sangria with notes of citrus and berries, perfectly rounding out the themed menu.
These items will be available through September 6 across all UK locations, and will be replacing the Taste of Italy Menu, which has been on offer since early June. It sure looks like McDonald's fans across the pond get to have all the fun!
