Leonardo DiCaprio Wants You to Stop Eating This Beloved Food Right Now

The actor says this "small choice" can have major impact.

Leonardo DiCaprio may be most famous for his film career, but off-screen, the star hasn't been shy about sharing his other passion: environmentalism. While the actor has used his celebrity to encourage individuals to adopt solar power at home and drive electric cars in the past, his latest crusade hits a little closer to home. DiCaprio is now asking fans to help the planet—and their health—by giving up one dietary staple: meat.

On March 4, the actor (and Beyond Meat partner) posted a tweet imploring fans to consider limiting their meat consumption in order to reduce their carbon footprint.

This isn't the first time Leo's expressed his passion for plant-based foods, however. Read on to discover what Leo has revealed about his own diet in the past. And for more celebrity health transformations, James Corden Lost 16 Pounds in Less Than Two Months By Doing This.

While DiCaprio may be passionate about the environment, he's played his cards close to the vest about his own diet. The actor, who rarely answers media questions about his personal life—including his diet—has, however, demonstrated his personal passion for plant-based cuisine on a number of occasions. After it was announced that the 2020 Golden Globes menu would be plant-based, the actor publicly thanked the Hollywood Foreign Press Association for their decision.

After DiCaprio purchased Moby's house for his parents following a bidding war with singer—and outspoken vegan—Morrissey, Moby penned a letter in The Spectator about the experience in which he alluded to Leo's plant-based lifestyle.

"I'd recently sold a house to Leo's parents, and had in the process become friends with Leo," Moby wrote. "In Los Angeles, bidding wars on houses take place between bold-face vegans."

While Leo may play his cards close to the vest when it comes to his own diet, insiders say he's long been passionate about vegan cuisine. In an interview with HollywoodLife.com, celebrity chef Wolfgang Puck revealed that he'd cooked for DiCaprio prior to an awards show, and that the star had insisted on vegan fare. "I did the SAG Awards and Leo DiCaprio said, 'What can you give me, something vegan?' He wanted vegan. We made a vegan pizza," Puck explained.
