4 Items Chick-fil-A Just Added to the Menu
America's favorite chicken chain has been busy in the kitchen and we finally get to reap the benefits of its innovative fall energy.
Die-hard fans will know that Chick-fil-A isn't one for frequent menu updates. But the company definitely goes beyond the classics from time to time to deliver seasonal twists on its beloved sandwiches, sweet treats, and even breakfast items. Here are the latest and the greatest developments on the chain's menu. Some are here to stay while others will be gone with the fall.
Chorizo Cheddar Egg Bites
The chain's breakfast fame is strong and only getting stronger. Besides offering chicken for breakfast in all its glorious iterations (on a biscuit, in an egg sandwich, or an egg wrap), the chain is venturing beyond its top-dog protein to deliver a light, bite-sized breakfast that's filling and easy to share.
The Chorizo Cheddar Egg Bites are now being tested on breakfast menus in Augusta, Ga., Aiken, S.C., Columbus, Ohio, Norfolk and Portsmouth, Va., Miami, Fla., and New Orleans, La. While the rollout is still very much local, the item could be making a nationwide appearance in no time, pending positive reviews.
It consists of four snack-sized pieces that combine eggs, Mexican-style chorizo sausage, and a blend of cheddar and Monterey Jack cheeses.
"As summer ends and the back-to-school morning routine begins, we wanted to offer our customers a new protein-packed entrée that keeps them satisfied when they're on the go without sacrificing taste," Leslie Neslage, director of menu and packaging at Chick-fil-A, said of the first breakfast menu innovation in five years. "Our guests are asking for more bite-sized, shareable breakfast options, and we look forward to hearing what they think about our limited-time Chorizo Cheddar Egg Bites test."
Grilled Spicy Deluxe Sandwich
You know what doesn't get talked about enough? Chick-fil-A's stellar grilled chicken options. And besides the regular deluxe versions of its grilled chicken sandwiches, customers can now try a spicy version for a limited time.
A lighter take on the classic Spicy Chicken Sandwich, the Grilled Spicy Deluxe Sandwich includes grilled chicken marinated in a spicy seasoning served on a toasted Multigrain Brioche Bun with Colby-Jack cheese, lettuce, and tomato.
The item first appeared as a seasonal menu addition last year, and according to Chick-fil-A, its popularity warranted an encore. A pro tip? The chain suggests pairing it with the cool and creamy Cilantro Lime Sauce, which will balance out the heat and add a fresh boost of flavor.
Autumn Spice Milkshake
Talk about getting seasonal! After the summer-pegged Peach Milkshake ran its course, a colder weather-themed item took its place on the menu. The Autumn Spice Milkshake blends the rich flavor of cinnamon with crunchy bits of brown sugar cookies and marries perfectly our longing for a frozen treat and fall flavors.
It's worth noting this is the first new flavor of milkshake available at all Chick-fil-A locations in four years. But the item won't stick around too long—you can enjoy it through November 12.
"We tested the Autumn Spice Milkshake last October in Salt Lake City, and we received an overwhelming amount of positive feedback which inspired our decision to launch this new milkshake nationwide," said Neslage. "We're eager for our Chick-fil-A milkshake enthusiasts to try the Autumn Spice Milkshake this fall!"
Upgraded Grilled Chicken Nuggets
While Grilled Chicken Nuggets aren't exactly a novelty on the menu, the way they are being prepared is.
Due to a mixup with the chain's longstanding grilled chicken recipe, which inadvertently included an undeclared dairy allergen, the company will be upgrading all its grilled chicken items to make sure the questionable ingredient is left out.
"We are actively working with the supplier so this doesn't happen again and to ensure the allergen is removed," the company said in a notice, after discovering the issue in August. "We understand and take seriously the trust our Guests place in us to make sure their food is how they expect it, and we apologize for this situation. Our priority is that our impacted Guests can enjoy these products again soon."
