This Is Ben Affleck's Exact Meal and Exercise Plan to Stay in Shape

The "Justice League" star is looking fitter than ever in his 40s thanks to this regimented routine.

Ben Affleck is nothing short of a chameleon on screen, whether he's portraying a harried CIA agent in Argo or suiting up to be Batman in Zack Snyder's Justice League films.

Of course, it takes more than acting ability to transform from role to role—Affleck has physically made himself over time and time again to embody the characters he portrays on-screen.

To ensure he's building muscle but not losing too much weight, Affleck doesn't incorporate too much cardio into his routine.

In a 2016 interview with Men's Journal, Affleck's trainer, Walter Norton, revealed that Affleck usually starts his workout with 15 minutes of cardio at the maximum, either in the form of a quick workout on the elliptical or Airdyne bike sprints.

To bulk up to play Batman, Norton put Affleck through a series of both bodyweight and free weight-based exercises.

These included everything from planks to cable rows to pull-ups to lunges, with Affleck exercising for close to two hours, divided into three blocks.

"We wanted him to be strong but we wanted to add mass. The volume was higher. We lived on a lot of the basics, 80-pound dumbbell curls, heavy-loaded carries, and farmers walks with 60-pound weights," Norton told Men's Journal.

He has his carbs in the morning.

According to Norton (speaking to Muscle & Fitness), when Affleck was getting into Batman shape, nutritionist Rehan Jalali designed a very specific diet for the star, including minimal carbs throughout the day.

However, in the mornings, Affleck would kick things off with a combination of oatmeal and egg whites.

He sticks to lean protein and vegetables for the rest of the day.

Throughout the rest of the day, Affleck kept his carbs to a minimum. For lunch, the star would eat salad with a double helping with protein, then either chicken or fish with cauliflower, broccoli, or Brussels sprouts for dinner.

"We were seeing that in our sleep," Norton told Muscle & Fitness. "Rehan designed a great diet, and Ben followed it to the letter."
