The Most Popular Recipe Right Now in Every State
Between the coronavirus pandemic closing up restaurants and cities enforcing stay-at-home mandates, people have been cooking a lot at home. For some, cooking at home is easy and doesn't require much thought (or research). But for others who are entering their first foray into cooking, the Internet can be a great tool for cooking questions and new recipes. So we were curious—what's the most popular recipe in every state right now?
To find out this data, we turned to Google Trends and looked at all the top search terms under "recipe" since Mar. 1, 2020. While there are a few popular recipes searched for are currently trending—like sourdough bread and whipped coffee—there are a few unique search terms that popped up for each state.

ALABAMA: Hamburgers
Along with the usual popular searches of sourdough and whipped coffee, it seems Alabama was ready to eat up hamburgers in quarantine. They were searching for the "best hamburger recipe" to cook up, so here's our favorite classic beef burger recipe to satisfy that craving.

ALASKA: French Toast
Residents in Alaska seem to have a sweet tooth right now! Along with French toast being the highest searched recipe since Mar. 1, they are also searching for recipes to make brownies, cinnamon rolls, and banana bread.

ARIZONA: Whipped Coffee
Along with adamantly searching for a hand sanitizer recipe to make at home, people in Arizona were all about the whipped coffee trend the past few months. Most of their top recipe searches involved whipped coffee in some way.

ARKANSAS: Strawberry Shortcake
Even though Arkansas had a similar interest in hamburgers and whipped coffee, their number one searched recipe in the past few months was actually strawberry shortcake. You can easily make one at home with our recipe—even on the grill!

CALIFORNIA: Churros
With Disney parks closed, a lot of Disney fanatics were craving some of their favorite park snacks—particularly churros and Dole Whip. California really missed their Disney churros, to the point where they actually searched for ways to make it at home. Here's a recipe we found that's super similar to the one made at Disney.

COLORADO: Mojitos
Looks like Colorado residents were craving a stiff drink in quarantine! Searches for mojitos were up 500% in Colorado specifically during those few months of quarantine.

Sourdough was definitely a popular search term across the country during quarantine, but Connecticut residents, in particular, were ready to bake. Sourdough dominated search terms during the months of quarantine.

While the country was baking bread and whipping up coffee, Delaware was sipping on margaritas at the end of the day. Margarita was a breakout search term in Delaware during the months of quarantine, followed by recipes for brisket and carrot cake.

Even though sourdough was clearly the most popular bread to bake in quarantine, banana bread came in a very close second. And Florida residents were all about their banana bread during quarantine.

Even though margaritas and mojitos were also popular recipes searched by Georgia residents, they also had a heavy interest in homemade lemonade in those months at home. So we found a delicious (and healthy) lemonade recipe you can make!

HAWAII: Enchiladas
