11 Grocery Store Chains That Will Carry the COVID-19 Vaccine
A COVID-19 vaccine still hasn't been approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), but the federal agency is acting "as quickly as possible" to authorize two new vaccines developed by Moderna and Pfizer for emergency use, according to Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Alex Azar.
When a vaccine does become available, you may be able to find it at your neighborhood grocery store. HHS has partnered with approximately 60% of pharmacies in retail and grocery stores across the U.S. to increase access to a future vaccine.
"The vast majority of Americans live within five miles of a pharmacy, and our new agreement with pharmacy partners across America is a critical step toward making sure all Americans have access to safe and effective COVID-19 vaccines when they are available," Azar said in a statement announcing the partnership.
As of Nov. 6, 11 grocery store chains had signed on to the partnership. Scroll down to see if your local supermarket is on the list. And before your next shopping trip, don't forget to read up on the 8 Grocery Items That May Soon Be in Short Supply.
