Golden Milk: Why You Should Be Drinking
Turmeric, the latest spice to take over the health food scene, is found in countless food products ranging from bone broth to honey. But there's no doubt that golden milk, the spice's latest incarnation, is getting the most buzz. The trendy drink is made with a blend of turmeric and milk and typically includes other tasty spices like ginger and black pepper. Together, these powerful spices have some pretty amazing health benefits, such as lessening the effects of depression and improving digestion. In fact, the drink is such a superstar that it's been enjoyed for ages by various cultures. And in case you were curious, it isn't called golden milk because it's such a gold medal-deserving drink; it gets its name from its golden hue. (Its main ingredient, turmeric, contains the compound curcumin, which is responsible for the spice's bright yellow color.)
