The #1 Drink Chris Pratt Cut Out To Look Amazing in His 40s
Going from the lovable Andy Dwyer on Parks and Recreation to iconic superhero, Star-Lord in Guardians of the Galaxy, and dinosaur researcher, Owen Grady, in Jurrasic World, Chris Pratt has been gracing the TV and movie screens for many years. He went from being encouraged to gain weight for his goofy sitcom role to having to lose weight and get shredded for his star-studded action films. His preparation for his superhero role required Pratt to lose weight, as he dropped 60 pounds in just 6 months.
When celebrities go through a body transformation as inspiring as Pratt's, you can't help but wonder what methods he had to go through the weight loss journey. It typically requires exercise routines and strict diets. However, Pratt cut out a certain beverage in particular. According to People Magazine, Pratt cut out beer in his diet to lose weight.
"Six months no beer," Pratt admits on Twitter.
As refreshing as drinking beer can feel, your body might thank you for not consuming it too often. Beer can be very high in calories. If you're on a calorie-counting diet, one or two beers can already be 10% of your daily calorie intake.
Most beer is also loaded with tons of carbohydrates, on average containing 6 grams to 35 grams per serving. Along with this, there is little fiber in each serving, preventing a spike in blood sugar levels. A poor fiber to carb ratio can lead to blood sugar issues such as diabetes and insulin resistance. It can also lead to cardiovascular disease, hypertension, and weight gain.
Although cutting out beer is a great start, Prat added more to the mix, increasing his calorie intake to 4,000 calories a day to help build muscle mass as he started exercising more and drinking a ton of water. His water intake was at one ounce per pound.
"I was peeing all day long, every day. That part was a nightmare," he tells Men's Journal.
A daunting task, but drinking water is great to keep you hydrated. Cold water, in particular, has been proven to also help athletes in workout recovery, which Pratt has been going through continuously.
The goofy, beloved actor has been very open about his physical transformation, telling his fans and followers about his methods of weight loss on his Instagram.
For workouts, he did a combination of methods such as P90X, running, swimming, and boxing. He also worked with a trainer six days a week to maintain his physique. Currently, he has his own workout line on Amazon, hoping to inspire other people on their health journeys.
