Dr. Karl Knopf has over 50 years of experience in the health and wellness industry, with a distinguished career as an adaptive physical education professor in Older Adult Education at Foothill College for 40 years. He served as the President of the Fitness Educators of Older Adults Association for two decades and was the Director of Fitness Therapy and Senior Fitness for the International Sports Science Association until 2021. Dr. Knopf has been a consultant for renowned institutions like Time Life Medical, the State of California, Stanford University, and the University of California.
He is the author of more than 17 books focusing on fitness for older adults, including his latest, The Strength Training Bible for Seniors (VeloPress, September 2024). Currently retired from teaching, Dr. Knopf remains active in the wellness community as an advisor to Sit and Be Fit and continues to write on topics related to senior health and fitness.
